 The second phase of'B' Division Hockey tournament being held by Karnataka State Hockey Association (KSHA) began yesterday, 18th August and will go on till 23rd August after which the thrid phase will begin. Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA) announced the first '6 Reds Snooker Karnataka State Ranking Tournament 2011', for men and women. 6-red, also known as six-red, is a shorter format of snooker which is played with six red balls instead of the standard fifteen. All oter rules remain the same. The tournament will begin on 20th Augustand will be heldin the Billiards hall of KSBA. The tournament will be conducted as per BSFI guidelines. David Ramanath, former Karnataka State hockey player who also played for Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Bangalore, passed away in Illinios, Chicago, USA on 7th August after protracted illness for some months. He was with RBI for 15 years and there after migrated to USA. Karnataka State Hockey Association offered their condolences for his passing away and noted in their press release, "He was a jovial person and endeared himself to one and all." Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar announced the annual inter-school tournaments which will beign on 20th August and go on till the 31st. The Karnataka State Hockey Association, 'B' Division Hockey League Championship began on the 22nd of July and will go on till the 21st of August. The championship follows the recently concluded 'C' Division League which saw Bellary Hockey Club beat Ideal Sports Club from KGF, 1-0 at the finals which was held on 15th July earlier this month.Twenty six teams from across the State will battle it out on the turf in 62 matches for the 'B' Division Championship. Karnataka is fielding the second largest contingent after hosts Tamil Nadu, of girls and boys totaling 23 in the Billiards & Snooker Nationals at Chennai. FORward150 initiated Cycling group about 6 months back to promote cycling in commuting and fun riding. It was named as FORward150_on_cycle. Our group was recently branded as COCO [Cycle On Cycle Onwards] to make it more generic and accommodate members from neighbouring areas in promoting cycling. We have internal target for each member to inspire/motivate atleast one person per month to take up cycling. Its going good in inspiring and motivating many.
