Issues in the zone:

  • Poor stormwater drain networks area persistent issue in the zone. The recent rain left many areas in the zone marooned after the release of water from the Redhills reservoir. Better, well-connected stormwater drain network would prevent water-logging.
  • Basic civic amenities are not available for residents of the ward who do not have patta despite residing in the zone for many years.
  • Public transport services are inadequate for the demand that exists in the area and there is poor connectivity by bus for the rest of the city. Mini bus services have also been discontinued.
  • Traffic congestion is an issue on arterial roads such as Paper Mills road being used by many commuters during peak hours. Regulation measures have not reduced the congestion.
  • Dumping of garbage in Puzhal lake is a key concern that has not been addressed for many years. Dumping of waste along the bund has gone unchecked despite complaints from residents.

NC in my name stands for no corruption: Shaina NC, Shiv Sena candidate from Mumbadevi

Shaina NC of the Shiv Sena will be taking on three-time MLA Amin Patel of the INC. We asked her what she plans for her constituency.

Shaina NC, a fashion designer, prominent personality in Mumbai and daughter of former sheriff of Mumbai Nana Chudasama, was earlier with the BJP for several years. She joined Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and is now contesting against Amin Patel (Congress) from Mumbadevi constiatuency. Even before campaigning could gain momentum, she was the centre of a controversy where the rival Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant, called her “imported maal.” She protested vociferously and the opposition tried to apologise and douse the issue.  Mumbai goes to vote on November 20th and Shaina NC is leaving no stone unturned to appeal to…

Conspicuous by absence in Mumbai election campaign: BMC elections

Delay in BMC elections hits the quality of everyday life in Mumbai. The fact that no political party is raising hell over this in their current campaigns speaks volumes.

In Mumbai, as the city prepares for the state assembly elections, the elephant in the room is actually the BMC elections. Not to…
