Issues in the zone:

  • Poor stormwater drain networks area persistent issue in the zone. The recent rain left many areas in the zone marooned after the release of water from the Redhills reservoir. Better, well-connected stormwater drain network would prevent water-logging.
  • Basic civic amenities are not available for residents of the ward who do not have patta despite residing in the zone for many years.
  • Public transport services are inadequate for the demand that exists in the area and there is poor connectivity by bus for the rest of the city. Mini bus services have also been discontinued.
  • Traffic congestion is an issue on arterial roads such as Paper Mills road being used by many commuters during peak hours. Regulation measures have not reduced the congestion.
  • Dumping of garbage in Puzhal lake is a key concern that has not been addressed for many years. Dumping of waste along the bund has gone unchecked despite complaints from residents.
