The week that was

  • The garbage crisis has raised its ugly head yet again in Bengaluru, this time in the southern part of the city. Bingipura residents who opposed the dumping of garbage in the landfill in their vicinity, have given BBMP one month’s time to find an alternative site.
  • The Bengaluru City Police will soon open an exclusive cyber crime police station at the Police Commissioner’s office. The station which is likely to be opened in a week will help citizens to file complaints related to cyber crimes.
  • After the Congress-JD(S) alliance came to power in the BBMP Council, they have planned to present a supplementary budget for BBMP for the year 2015-16.
  • Following the mayoral election, chairpersons for the 12 standing committees were elected this week. Of them, six are independent corporators, one is from SDPI, three from Congress and two are from JD(S).
