600 kg of plastic seized in Whitefield

- Bengaluru Blueprint Action Group, the 23-member non-constitutional group formed recently, had its first meeting on Tuesday. In the meeting chaired by Siddaramaiah, it was decided to form sub-groups comprising subject experts to find solutions to different issues bothering the city.
- The Bengaluru Regional Passport Office launched online police verification of passport applications on May 14th on a pilot basis in Central Bengaluru. Five police stations in Bengaluru Central have gone online for the purpose. With it, the time taken for police verification has been reduced to one week as against the current waiting period of 30 days.
- There has been mounting opposition over the CM’s recommendation for appointing BDA Commissioner T Sham Bhat for the post of Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Chairman. An activist Ramamurthy Gowda has written to Governor Vajubhai Vala against the recommendation citing allegations of corruption against the bureaucrat.
- The Transport department has continued its seizure drive against Ola and Uber cabs. On Tuesday, the department officials seized 60 Uber and Ola airport taxis for plying on city roads without seeking permission under new regulations.
- The sixth edition of the India’s biggest social media festival, Social Media Week will be organised in Bengaluru on June 9th and 10th.
