And we do it yet again. Your own community magazine for Bengaluru has got another award. Citizen Matters has won the Manthan South West award in the e-news and journalism category. This is the 5th award for the team, in six years.
In a packed award function at Pune on August 7th, Ganga Madappa, Citizen Matters’ Staff Journalist and Community Manager, received the trophy. The event was organised by Digital Empowerment Foundation, which has instituted the award, and Your Public Interest Registry.
There were around 207 entries for the digital technology and communication awards across 15 categories, and 28 of them were chosen as winners. Citizen Matters was the winner in the e-news & journalism category, ‘for creating an online resource of news and independent coverage.’ MPC News got the special mention from the jury. The awards are meant to celebrate digital innovation locally and build local level knowledge network, for development and good governance.

About the Manthan South West award
The Manthan Award South West India from the Digital Empowerment Foundation recognises digital innovations at regional level. The award focuses on the 12 states of India in South and West including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala. The award is meant to encourage grassroots ICT innovators to participate and present their innovation.
