The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) told the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday that it has released Rs 118.15 crore out of the total pending amount of Rs 150 crore to be paid to the garbage contractors and the civic workers. The BBMP counsel assured that the remaining Rs 32 crore will be released soon after contractors submit the bills for the work done. Licence for operating a sewage treatment plant can now be renewed once in five years. Industries have to renew their licence to operate only once in five years. This is the result of the KSPCB’s recent decision to eliminate extra paperwork and make the processes user-friendly. Report by Usha Rajagopalan   The morning of the Kere Habba on 21st Feb. saw over 30 volunteers coming as early as 7 a.m. and setting to work stringing festoons between trees, paper lanterns, sticking event posters, and more. Almost ALL the decorative items were "home made" by children and adults. Snehadhara Foundation did likewise with sketches and artefacts painstakingly done by their children. Many hands made for quick work and it was all done in a couple of hours. The Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Karnataka along with Yelahanka United Environment Association (YUVA) is organizing 'Janapada Suggi'  an initiative to promote the rural folk culture of Karnataka. The program will take place at the Allalasandra Lake (Yelahanka) gate entrance on Saturday, 28th February, 6 p.m. onwards.   This is the first time that a program on this scale is being organised in Yelahanka.
