This newsletter is shared by the citizen group, Bellandur Forum (bellandur-forum@googlegroups.com) Sarjapur Road Cleaning drive      On Saturday 15th Feb, the BBMP zonal office will do an intensive cleaning of Sarjapur Road from ORR junction to Purva Sunshine. This initiative will involve cleaning the medians, levelling the ground on either side of the tarred road, removing all illegal hoardings/advertisements, removing debris/junk from the road side and cleaning of rain water drains.  The BBMP will bring pourkarmikas, two JCBs and several tractors. Some of the residents living on this stretch are volunteering to map the problems, and coordinating the task on the ground on Saturday. More…

Prior to that, most of their waste (85%) was mixed and little dry waste was being recovered. Last Friday, on Rajyotsava, Karnataka High Court justices N Kumar and B V Nagarathna, visited Bellandur Ward apartments Divyashree Elan and Springfields. This was part of a tour of various Solid Waste Management facilities in the city, including Koramangala's Kasa Rasa, Dry Waste Segregation Centre, Karnataka State Composting Corporation (KCDC) etc. They were accompanied by BBMP Commissioner Lakshminarayana, former BBMP chief Siddhaiah and many other officials. Bellandur residents have got RTI responses from BDA on status of three projects - flyovers at Bellandur and Devarabeesanahalli junctions, and an underpass at Kadubeesanahalli junction. The two flyover projects, which took off in September 2009, were supposed to be complete by the end of 2010. BDA later extended the deadline by another year, to December 2011. Work on Kadubeesanahalli underpass was to be complete by June 2011. But all three projects are still going on.
