Over 100 girls descended upon Bangalore Football Stadium on a July evening for their chance to make the Karnataka state women's team. Jawahar Union won the B Division League Bangalore Blues Cup 2011-12, on March 4th. They beat Bangalore Kickers to win the cup.Both teams have been promoted to A Division for the year 2012-13. Five teams - BWSSB, Young Muslims, Goans, Sunrising and BHEL (EPD) have been relegated to C Division. On February 15th, Day 15 of the B Division Bangalore Blues Cup 2011-12, Bangalore Kickers and Royals emerged winners. The tournament is being held at the Bangalore Football Stadium and is organised by Bangalore District Football Association. In the first match, Bangalore Kickers beat BWSSB by 3-2. For Kickers, Diyananda scored two goals at the 46th and 59th minute, and Suri scored one goal at the 15th minute. Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) will conduct an Entrance/Promotional Football Referees Examination in the last week of April. Candidates in the age group of 18 to 28 years can apply. Candidate should have passed SSLC examination and have knowledge of football. Classes for the exam will be conducted during March. Bangalore footballers are going to be a happy lot soon. The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has honoured the Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) with an Astroturf. City's football stadium in Ashok Nagar, is only one of three cities in India with astroturf surfaces, the other two being Kolkata and Mumbai. Those surfaces were also funded by FIFA. Amidst all the excitement of the FIFA World Cup, Bangalore had its own mini world cup tournament last week, with players representing France and Spain fighting it out in the finals on Sunday. The KIPSTA Cup football tournament ended with two ‘France’ teams - Rootsports (representing Bangalore based sports management firm Root Sports) and BSSF (Bangalore School Sports Federation) - winning the cup in the Senior and Under-15 categories respectively.
