As a response to water shortage, four bore wells were sanctioned under the councillors quota for every ward. Unfortunately in BTM layout, the program resulted in two tragic deaths, on 16th Main Road, in II Stage. On June 15th, one of the crew members of the borewell firm that got the contract, took the first step to raise the bore motor to start drilling. As part of their wall painting projects, BBMP painted a compound wall of a 1 acre plot in BTM Layout with social and cultural awareness messages last month. Residents welfare & Cultural Association of BTM and Director of Central Library approached BBMP to get the compound wall painted in November 2009. The work started in February. Political and welfare organisations in BTM layout independently collected funds and relief materials for flood affected victims of North Karnataka from residents and shops around this area. The relief materials include rice, pulses, oil, clothes, and medicines and so on. The disaster is reported to have left thousands of people homeless and around 170 people dead.
