Bangalore’s own interactive newsmagazine
Speak up, it’s your city!

While this edition of our newsletter is much briefer than usual, it features several interesting stories. Read about how public land near Sankey tank is now in the hands of Mantri developers. Also check out what a reader has to say about the challenges faced by her apartment in waste segregation. We also have a new blog post that will take you back in time. Happy reading!

Here’s a look at the latest news from Bengaluru, before we get into our stories:

  • Earlier today, the Lokayukta police filed an FIR against two former Chief Ministers of Karnataka – HD Kumaraswamy and BS Yeddyurappa, over an illegal land deal in RT Nagar.
  • At least 3,500 sites formed and sold by the BDA in 14 layouts including Banashankari 3rd stage, HSR Layout and ST Bed, face an uncertain future with the BDA commissioner  submitting to the Upa Lokayukta that these layouts stand on lake beds. This admission comes in the wake of the recent demolition drives at Sarakki Lake and Banaswadi.
  • According to the Breathe Blue ‘15 survey, Bangalore ranks second among the list of most polluted cities in India as far as air pollution is concerned.
  • The Cycle Day initiative, which was met with great gusto in Bangalore, will now make its way to other cities in Karnataka including Hubballi, Dharward and Mysuru.
