A workshop was conducted for the new corporators, by the State government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the corporators who strive to achieve a zero garbage ward will be rewarded. BBMP was told to present a realistic budget and to collect Rs 3,000 crores of property tax.
The BBMP’s first council meeting after the new council was formed, witnessed nothing more than talks by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and senior corporators. Prior to the meeting, BJP corporators staged a protest outside the council hall opposing the Congress-JD(S) coalition.

Bellandur lake which was in news for emitting toxic foam few months ago, has once again made news for the same reason. Froth has been flying out of the lake and disturbing motorists and pedestrians alike. BWSSB is trying to douse the foam using sprinklers.
Villagers of Kannahalli and Seegehalli vandalised Karnataka Compost Development Corporation’s new garbage processing unit at Kannahalli which started functioning only a fortnight ago. The villagers have complained of foul smell emanating from the plant.
As many as 150 Lokayukta officials and staff were transferred on a single day across the State, on Saturday. This is the result of a High Court order which set a deadline of September 29th to transfer Lokayukta staff who have completed two to five years of work in the agency.
The Forest Cell of BBMP will soon start a tree survey in the city to find out how many trees are present in the city and how many will be cut in the process of making city’s arterial roads signal free. The survey is likely to be completed in 3 months.
