The State Election Commission website now has updated information pertaining to the city council polls. Various documents are available on the portal including a handbook for candidates (Kannada). This handbook includes information that candidates require, including details that need to be furnished in the affidavit, eligibility criteria, and so on.

Karsec.gov.in also has a document stating the rules under the election code of conduct. These rules  outline activities that the government or election aspirants should not carry out to influence voters. You can also access the polling agent and counting agent’s handbook on the website. However, all these documents are available only in Kannada.

If you are a first time candidate, and are wondering about how to prevent or pre-empt bogus voting at the booths in your ward, you must know that have the right under the law to position one polling agent in every booth. Major parties do that. An agent can raise an objection to the presiding officer if any abuse or malpractice happens and the presiding officer has to consider it.   ⊕
