This country-side railway station cries for attention

Carmelram station located near to Sarjapur Road is becoming more and more useful, as it saves lot of time, especially for commuters from North Bangalore.

After almost a 40 minutes run from Bangalore city, the train 16732 bound to Tuticorin comes to a halt. Half-asleep passengers peek out assuming the stop to be Hosur, as the train comes to a halt on platform 1 of the station just outside Bangalore limits. However it is not Hosur – welcome to Carmelram.

An unassuming country side station, it is almost a let thorugh for Bangalore city trains – but for a major part of North Bangaloreans, this is an important station, especially for trains from Yeshvantapur as they do not have to waste time in traffic jams while travelling across the city.

Just off the Bangalore-Sarjapur road, this station is located at about 5 kms from Ibblur junction on the Outer Ring Road and about 3 kms from WIPRO (Doddanekundi). The station is a 5-minute walk from the bus stop. Owing to increase in passengers, even autos have now started plying to the station.

16731/32 – Mysore-Tuticroin Express

Apart from these, 328B and 328H from Hosakote to Sarjapur/Attibelle (Via Kadugodi, Hopefarm, Varthur) pass via Dommasandra which is about 4 kms from this station on Sarjapur Road from where commuters can use this station.

Though so many passengers use this station, the station is very small, with very low level platforms and a small entrance booth and ticketing counter. Most passengers alight over here, as it saves the time required to go to the main station and returning. This station is waiting for the Railway authorities make improvements at this station to help the commuters.
