Last year around the same time, Citizen Matters published a two part series on how the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) funds were underutilised in Bengaluru. Following this, budget allocation sped up and last September, the state government allocated over ₹145 crore to various agencies. However the air quality in the city hasn't improved, while more than ₹100 crores of the clean air funds remain unused. Performance report shows 5.3 below the average score of of Bangalore MLAs at 5.5 . Not an impressionable report. When the BBMP is controlled, admiinisterd and dominated absolutely by the BJP Corporators without let or hindrance by the decimitated Opposition Parties, the performance report of Basavangudi MLA in today’s TOI (30th October 2014) is in bad light. Performance should have been better in respect of cleanliness, garbage clearance and citizens’ amenities in the constituency (not building toilets and dharmic sabha halls in temples with MLA funds).
