The 20th Inter Club Billiards and Snooker Handicap Tournament will be held from January 9th at the KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) Clubhouse Billiards Section. The tournament will be open to all clubs affiliated to Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA).Twenty five entries are permitted. The matches will be in teams, with five players in each team and four to play. Best of three games will be selected. KSCA will simultanously hold the Karun Muthaiah Memorial Dependents Handicap Inter Club Snooker Tournament at the same venue, under the auspices of KSBA. Twenty entries are permitted.⊕

In the match on January 5th, Blue Star HC beat Chitradurga HC by 5-0. Prem Sagar, a friend of mine,recently registered his photography equipment rental company with the MCA. It appears that MCA is leaking the addresses of such parties, because the postman called with a parcel, saying that Rs. 2,300 had to be paid. Prem immediately thought that it must be some legal documents that had been despatched, but luckily, he called up his advisor and checked. It's interesting to observe... Our pavements and footpaths are full of people who are trying to eke a living in a city that they have moved into. Amongst these are the immigrants from Rajasthan, who make these ceramic artefacts:Several of these patterns seem to be the most popular, including square containers for Tulsi plants, vases, and Shirdi Sai Baba statuettes. They certainly add colour to our footpaths, even as they block them for pedestrians! ⊕

Measures taken by BBMP to collect property tax above 1 lakh rupees from defaulters are being effective, especially the Drum Beating Program and announcement of defaulters names in various media. Bagmane Tech Park has paid 10 crore rupees of overdue property tax. Many other organizations and individuals are also taking this issue of paying the tax seriously even before BBMP issues notices and arrives in front of their buildings with the drum beaters to save themselves from embarrasment. BBMP has decided to allocate a certain time for public grievances keeping in mind the productivity and security of BBMP staff during working hours. Hence visiting hours between 3pm to 5pm is dedicated to public grievances in all BBMP offices. The staff will not attend to public during the other working hours. This is as per the notification issued on 2-1-2012. ⊕

Construction wastes and unwanted materials on pedestrian footpaths have been creating a hindrance to vehicular traffic and do not present a pretty picture of the city. BBMP had already made several requests to the public not to dispose of the construction material remains on footpaths and drains. Penalty was imposed when people were caught red-handed disposing the construction materials. But in spite of all this the bad practice has continued. The Kolaveri phenomenon still rages. Literally translated, the word means 'murderous rage', as is widely known by now. The video spawned off Kolaveri derivatives in several languages, some comical, some serious. On December 5th, BBMP was put at receiving end of at least one of them. An upset citizen and Youtube user, Debashish Ghosh shot off a video asking 'Why this Kolaveri?' of BBMP.
