Karnataka lost bronze medal to Uttar Pradesh in the 38th Junior National Volleyball Championship for Boys, which ended on January 29th in West Bengal. Karnataka ranked fourth in the Boys Championship.UP beat Karnataka by 79-59 (28-26, 25-09, 26-24). In a major ruling, the High Court has ordered that commercial buildings not be allowed in residential zones in Bangalore from now on. The court passed the interim order on January 25th in a case filed by Citizens' Action Forum (CAF), Sadashivnagar RWA and 12 individuals in 2008. Petitioners had challenged BDA's Revised Master Plan (RMP 2005-2015), based on which land use zones are demarcated. Bangalore One Centres will soon be established at all outlets of the hypermarket chain Big Bazaar in the city. There will 18 such new centres, announced Dr D S Ravindran, Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for e-governance, at a workshop organised by state government's Department of e-governance on January 24th. Dr Ravindran said that, of the existing 76 Bangalore One centres in the city, 38 centres  work 24X7, and the rest work from 8 am to 8 pm. ⊕
