The dispute between the fishermen and the more affluent, non-fishing residents of Thiruvanmaiyur and Besant Nagar has simmered for years, highlighting tensions over land use, development, and livelihoods. Acting upon the complaint from the residents (non-fishers) in the locality, the GCC demolished the temporary constructions made by the fishers of Thiruvanmaiyur Kuppam in June this year. Being less than 40 metres from the coastline, they were termed encroachments. A mainstream news outlet even referred to fishers' construction as ‘beach robbery,’ emphasising concerns that the illegal construction of houses and pathways could lead to the loss of turtle nesting sites and…

Bellandur Lake rejuvenation: An urgent call for action
Bellandur Lake, Bengaluru’s largest water body, has been at the heart of an ambitious rejuvenation project since 2020. However, persistent delays, severe funding shortages, and inadequate planning have left citizens increasingly frustrated. Time is slipping away, and without immediate government intervention, this critical environmental project risks failing. A recent meeting with government bodies shed light on the project’s stagnation and the urgent steps required to salvage it. Progress so far Desilting Work: Of the estimated 32.33 lakh cubic meters of silt, 22.69 lakh cubic meters (70%) have been removed, leaving 30% unfinished Early monsoons and slushy conditions have delayed progress…
Will be interesting to correlate with what the Mahadevapura MLA had claimed as his personal achievement around the same time last year…. I remember the booklet brought out by him claiming construction of community halls across all wards… I find a mention of the same here….
Wonderful job, he has covered almost all areas under his constituency
This MP is better than the other MP, who has spent the entire amount in all projects completed, without any balance leftover. The cost of certain things are not at par with the market pricing, especially the electronic items provided to the schools and other institutions. It must be taken as a duty to keep a tap on those projects, as to whether they are functioning properly / material is in tact in its place OR being misused etc.
Who’s Emerge Tech/EEPRED? How do these projects get prioritized?
How come majority of the works are carried out by EEPRED? They seem to bag all the tenders??? Only building more and more toilets is not going ot help.!! What has he done to improve major issues in this constituency like traffic, terrible road conditions, increasing dust and pollution?
Mahadevpura is one of the constituency under Mr P.C. Mohan which is totally neglected. Roads and footpaths here are worst than many rural areas, Traffic condition is chaotic. Even there has been fatal accidents like a baby getting crushed under truck, but nothing changed.
Also, most of the expenses written above are over-inflated. Does it take 10 lac Rs to build a toilets (refer expense 8,9,10,11 in year 2010-11) ? Pure waste of tax-payer’s money.
Traffic seems to be a major issue in this constituency. Every day, when i woke up, i can see lines of vehicles queued up,trying to sneak away past the signal momentarily. But, it is not only the MP who has to resolve this issue. The onus lies on citizens as well, who recklessly drive vehicles. Everyday i commute to office, i can see that there is a huge jam and in each and every car, single person is sitting. Wouldn’t it be good if we do car pooling. Most of us are IT employees and we flock to EPIP or ITPB , and we do display enthusiasm in our company sponsored CSR activities, but when it comes to common sense, we lack. We never gave chance to ourselves for improvement. If we make a habit that we can carry along 3-4 persons in our car, traffic problem will ease a bit. All of us are in hurry to reach office, without caring what shortcuts or traffic violations we make. I am not taking side of this MP, but in order to raise complain, we should be in a position to raise our voice. Every weekday, post 8:30 am , you can see ruckus everywhere. We do want change, but we won’t change ourselves . What great citizens we are . Just to make it simple, vote to that person, whom you think is worthy enough and that candidate will be worthy, only if you think that you are worthy and responsible citizen of this country and you will cast your vote judiciously Rest is your choice.
