Method 1:
I found this mobile number on Quikr mfor obtaining Senior Citizen Cards in the J P Nagar area: +91 9945837981.
I called the number and after a while, the person called back. He wanted me to keep ready three passport photos, and the xerox of ONE of the following:
- Aadhar Card
- Voter Id
- Driving licence
- Passport
He said that someone would come and collect these, and also bring the Senior Citizen card to my address.
Method 2:
The alternative is going to the BJP Office in Jayanagar
- Address:“Shasakara Kacheri”, 18th Main, 35th Cross, 4th ‘T’ Block, Jayanagar, Bengaluru 560 011.
- Contact – 9341906517, 9449156115 or Siddaraju on 99018 37937
You can see the BJP Office site here:http://bjpkarnataka.org/b-n-vijay-kumar
The difference between the two methods
The BJP office, which is doing this as a free service, and says that the card can be obtained in two weeks (I got the card without charge but it took a month.) . The person whom I talked to at the first contact number (Method 1), asked for a fee of Rs 250, and said that getting the card would take a month.
So I am getting my Senior Citizen card from the BJP office, as I do not see why I should pay Rs 250. However, if someone is immobile, Method 1 may be a better option.
I have now got my Senior Citizen card and must find out what benefits I will get as a result!
Senior Citizen Cards can also be obtained from Nightingales – who are Government Authorised. All details are in the link below. This sounds more reliable to me.
