In many communities, the pandemic brought about a desperate need for a resource essential to survival: clean drinking water. In the run up to the monsoons, tree trimming or pruning in Mumbai is a regular affair. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Garden Department takes care of the trees on the roads and public spaces, and it used to do this in individual housing societies as well, on request. Mumbai Samachar turns 200 Popularly known as Bombay Samachar, India's oldest continually published newspaper turned 200 this year. The paper was established by Parsi scholar, printer, and editor Fardoonji Murazban in 1822. It has been produced both in Gujarati and English. Bankruptcy forced a hand over operations and ownership of the press to the Cama family in 1933. According the Mumbai fire department, more than 60% of the fires in the city were from the Aarey region. In the first three months of this year, out of the 47 distress calls they received 31 were from Aarey.
