Bengaluru is a city of opportunities: Sadananda Maiya

Sadananda Maiya, the former owner of MTR Foods, who also established another food chain Maiyas, writes about Bengaluru. On the day of Kannada Rajyotsava, he describes the accommodating nature of the city.

It’s known that Bangalore is Karnataka’s capital, Garden city, Silicon Valley, IT-BT hub of India, historically. Culturally, religiously, traditionally rich, educational hub tourists’ delight, cosmopolitan city ever growing in leaps and bounds in every aspect beyond one’s imagination, contributed to a galaxy of scientists, sports persons, actors, doctors, musicians and much more distinguished professionals.

People from all over India and world jump at the first opportunity to come to Bangalore for whatever reasons and enjoy the social life it offers all irrespective of their vernacular background, culture, taste and lifestyle. Bangalore has great weather all through the year, offers variety of food that tickles one’s taste buds. It has an amazing food culture. The spices and flavours its offers are dramatically enticing and intriguing.

I have spent nearly five decades in South Bangalore – a heaven on earth. I love Bangalore for umpteen reasons and proud to be identified as a Bangalorean. Every entrepreneur’s destiny is success in this city as it welcomes experimentation & innovations with open arms.

My forte has been traditional Kannada cuisine. The city has blessed me and my family every time we came up with a new recipe be it at MTR or Maiyas. With people from diverse background living in the city, have tasted and liked our food innovations. Their ever-growing encouragement has made us more creative and innovative.

The responsibility to live up to the expectations of each and every patron has only increased with the passage of time. It gives me immense pleasure to see food enthusiasts enjoy and relish our variety of cuisines. The continous patronage of  our customers is the certificate of appreciation to our efforts in maintaining the authentic standard traditional tastes in the food varieties we offer worldwide.

I owe a lot ot Bangalore for giving me my bread, encouraging and appreciating my efforts and grow as a distinguished brand giant in the global food industry. I opine Bangalore is a city of opportunities. It encourages every effort and appreciates, acknowledges and translates every sincere hardwork into success.

    Learning Kannada is also not as easy as you think. There are very few schools in Bangalore where a visitor can learn elementary Kannada communication.I am a frequent visitor to Bangalore, and in Malleshwaram,where I stay, I have not come across any signboards of language schools. In fact, amazingly,almost everyone you need to interact with e.g shop owners, speaks English . So there’s virtually no pressure on me to learn Kannada. In my experience, Bangalore is the easiest city for a non – Kannada speaking person to navigate. I personally feel that most Bangaloreans are broader minded and knowledgeable persons with a mindset that is more global rather than parochial.
