A Socio Economic and Caste Census is to be conducted in areas of BBMP Bangalore West Zone in Malleswaram, Rajajinagar, Gandhinagar, Mahalaxmipuram, Chamarajapet, Govindrajanagar. Applications are invited from Central and State Government retired and working employees interested in conducting the census. This programme will run from 15 November and will go on for 40 days. BBMP's Education Committee held a meeting on 24th September to discuss about basic infrastructure, playgrounds, cleanliness, and improvement of education in all BBMP Schools and Colleges. The Committee observed that basic infrastructure like drinking water, washrooms, etc was lacking in most schools. Some schools, like those in Magadi Road, had shortage of classrooms. Some others held primary classes in the morning and college classes in the afternoons. In Bangalore, about 3000 to 3500 tons of garbage is collected every day. On special occasions like Ugadi, Ayudh Pooja, Vijayadashami and Deepavali the amount of garbage (organic waste from flowers, fruits, vegetable, banana leaves, etc) increases by 800 to 1000 tons. This garbage is disposed off in vehicles within 2 to 3 days to recycling units.During this diwali season, the garbage collected in KR Market was around 175 tons which was more than the average of 60 to 70 tons per day. BBMP has taken preventive measures to maintain cleanliness in the city and to avoid accidents while bursting crackers during Deepavali festival.The people should see to it that they do not pollute the environment while celebrating the festival. The harmful smoke from crackers can cause many lung related ailments in children. Accommodations for night shelterless destitutes were inaugurated in Bommanahalli by M. Krishnappa, Vidhana Sabha leader.As per the directions of Supreme Court and Karnataka government, BBMP came forward and along with the help of some NGOs, created the first of its kind of night accommodations for the Homeless in the two Samudaya Bhavans of Kotanuru and Vasantapura areas of Bommanahalli. The Water Hackathon Bangalore will kick off with a dinner and reception event on today, 21st October at the Ista Hotel off MG Road Bangalore. The event will include presentations by experts in the water sector and the IT sector. Teams of hackers will identify the problems in the water sector they want to address using the mobile technology of their choice. BBMP and PES College jointly co-ordinated a program to plant 300 different varieties of saplings on the roadside of Ganesha Temple in Ward No 165. PES College provided 300 tree guards.Extensive tree planting has been going on all over Bangalore with the help of public and private organizations. BBMP has provided 40 thousand tree guards. The rules for registration of Graduates in Vidhana Sabha constituency elections according to 1960 act (31)3 has been displayed from 1-10-2011 in all Registration Offices of BBMP. Citizens are requested to add, delete or rectify changes in their names in the BBMP offices before 31-10-2011. Before 31-10-2011, eligible graduates can enlist their names in Bangalore Graduates Constituency list as per Form No 18. Form No 18 is available in all BBMP offices.
