Panel discussion on Nov 28: Creating safe spaces for children in schools

Enfold is organising a panel discussion with experts on child safety to discuss the recommended protocols for schools as per the CPP and POCSO Act. The discussion is on November 28th.

When Child Sexual Abuse is reported in school, its ‘safe-space’ reputation can quickly become a hotbed of suspicion and panic, attracting media glare. In this emotionally charged situation, the best interests of the child and family, and adherence to the POCSO Act (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012), often recede. The Protocols recommended by the proposed Karnataka State Child Protection Policy for Educational Institutions (CPP) and POCSO Act support in managing child sexual abuse, responsibly and sensitively.

enfold invites you to Child Safety in Schools – Protocols and Systems, a Forum where the recommended protocol as per the CPP and POCSO, will be presented, and the challenges discussed by an expert panel. The panel will include a pediatrician trained in child safety, a counselor of sexuality and personal safety, a senior police officer, a lawyer working in the field of child safety, and a member each from a child welfare agency, school management and PTA.

Date: Saturday, 28th November 2015
Time: 10 am to 12 pm
Venue: Lawrence School, 9th Main, 6th Sector, HSR Layout, Bengaluru, Karnataka
