Workshop for better management of apartments this Saturday

ApartmentADDA is a hosting a workshop on the various aspects of managing an apartment complex. The workshop will be held on Saturday, March 19 at the TERI Complex in Domlur.

With a continued influx of people setting down with Bengaluru, a majority of the population is now living in apartments.

On Saturday March 19th, ApartmentADDA, an organisation that hosts private, secure portals for apartment complexes, is conducting a workshop aimed at citizens living in these apartments. Citizen Matters is the media partner for the workshop.

The workshop, Neighborhoods of Tomorrow, will bring together various members of the society—apartment management committees, subject matters experts, representatives from the city administrations—to arrive at solutions to the problems that every neighbourhood faces.

The workshop, touted to be India’s largest convention of management committee members, will act as a platform for attendees to share and discuss problems that they face in their apartments, and also figure out possible solutions for the same.

What will the workshop cover?

The folks at ApartmentADDA define a smart neighbourhood as one one that is sustainable, connected, secured and inculcates the right mix of technological advancements to better efficiency. And these smart neighbourhoods can only be created by smart citizens.

The workshop will go over the key aspects of managing apartments and improving neighbourhoods outside too. Topics that will be addressed include:

  • Neighbourhood security (improving security in the apartment, in the neighbourhood etc)

  • Facility management

  • Legal aspects of apartment governance: Laws related to RWA formation, taking over apartment maintenance from builder, handling issues post takeover.

  • Waste management

  • Apartment social responsibility

Apart from being an opportunity to understand how other apartments in the city are managing themselves, the workshop is a platform for attendees to network, and learn from one another.

Krishanu Mukherjee of ApartmentADDa says, “The takeaways are plenty. This is ApartmentADDA’s 11th workshop. We have seen cases where people have attended a workshop, and been a part of the panel in the next after implementing something that they picked up from our workshop”.

He cites the examples of James Jacob, a member of the Management Committee at Samhita Square, Basavanagar. Jacob attended one of the Water Workshops in 2012 when his apartment complex was considering implementing a rainwater harvesting system. By October 2013, the apartment had not only adopted rainwater harvesting, but each apartment was also fitted with a water meter. In one of ApartmentADDA’s subsequent workshops, Jacob was in fact one of the speakers who was addressing other attendees about what they had done in their apartment.

Krishanu also says that several apartment committees have saved several lakhs of rupees by implementing what they have learned from past workshops.

How can you take part?

To be a part of the workshop, you will need to register. For premium users of ApartmentADDA, the registration fee is Rs 200, and for basic users, Rs 400. The registration fees can be paid at the venue on the day of the workshop, and includes lunch and tea.

    We see the Haralur Road stretch starting from HP petrol station on the right hand side of the road for nearly 400 metres doesn’t have sewage discharge facilities. Can the BWSSB lay the sewage discharge pipes on the main Haralur Road for this stretch and help the people living in this stretch
