Women do their bit for the underprivileged

For many years now, Ladies Circle has been working with the underprivileged, holding medical camps and raising money for various other causes.

We volunteers from Ladies Circle India (LC India) help underprivileged children with education and healthcare; we donate school uniforms, computers and books, provide midday meals, build classrooms, build toilet blocks, run health camps and much more.

Ladies Circle India (LC India) is a non political and non-sectarian organisation of young women, who are wives of members of Round Table (Round Table India is an organisation which aims at promoting service, fellowship and goodwill in national and international affairs) between the ages 18-40. We have the opportunity of serving the community, fostering and strengthening friendships between like-minded young women and help create a better understanding of the obligations one owes to society.

LC India is affiliated to Ladies Circle International (LCI), which has a membership of 14,000 and presence in 33 countries across the world. LC India is also affiliated to World Council of Service Clubs (WOCO), which has a worldwide membership of organizations with similar values of friendship and service. The Bangalore team consists 180 members.

We had organised a medical camp for the underprivileged and donated towards artificial limbs, dialysis sessions and also cleft palate surgeries in collaboration with Karnataka Marwari Youth Federation and Smile Train, a US based NGO.

We had organised two such medical camps in March and April in Bangalore and Mysore respectively. Kannada actors like Komal Kumar and Sanjjanaa graced the event and made it special for the patients.

This is especially difficult in a city like Mumbai where traffic concerns and the territorial nature of street dogs makes it impossible for pet parents to let their dogs off the leash even for a moment.
