If you have a little time to spare, do visit Bannerghatta National Park…and the Butterfly Park there. Admission is Rs.10, which is really worth it. Here’s the Butterfly Park signboard:

The dome of the Park itself is a beautiful construction, with the lush greenery inside:

And here are a few butterflies that I snapped inside:
The COMMON MORMON MALE:

The BLUE MORMON:

However, I feel that there should be more pictures of the butterflies inside the enclosure, as most visitors do not know the id’s.
The area around the Butterfly Park seems also a good place to spot some common, and less common, birds; I spotted this TICKELL’S BLUE FLYCATCHER there, but since I did not have a good birding camera, could only take this bad shot:

Of course, the animal safaris are also useful for introducing small children to the mammals in the Indian forests; they need not bother about the fact that animals in captivity are really a sad spectacle! The Park could definitely police its anti-plastic and trash policy a little more effectively, though..the litter is really awful.
But all in all, Bannerghatta National Park..even if it is just the tourist area…is well worth a visit! ⊕
