All cooking gas consumers had to go through the process of submitting documentation for cooking gas cylinder connections, and recently, they were told to check the status of their connections online.
This can be done by by entering the details on this page and clicking ‘Go’.
In case there is any problem, the consumer needs to attend to it in a day or two.
But there can be a further problem even if your status says “OK”. If the people from the gas agency have not visited your home for verification after you submitted the documents, your connection will be blocked and you cannot pay online. This is something that the agencies do not mention at all.
Also, on a regular basis, if you are travelling and have not ordered a gas cylinder for six months, your connection gets locked out and you need to go to the agency with a request letter and a copy of some id proof of the person in whose name the connection is.
So please ensure that the verification has been done by the gas agency, so that you can order the cylinders online.
Also, the simple method of phoning up the gas agency to book cylinders has been replaced by IVRS (Interactive Voice Recording System). Though this is allegedly to streamline the process, it’s actually becoming more difficult. Why do away with the phone ordering, instead of adding to it?
here is the link telling you how to book gas cylinders now
Instead of different telephone numbers for the hundreds of gas agencies, we are now reduced to a single number for the whole of Karnataka, that is, 8970024365.
I do find that these are customer-unfriendly practices by the gas agencies.
