The first phase of the ‘G.S.Randhawa Memorial Inter School Boys Hockey Tournament’ organised by Rotary Club Indiranagar in association with Karnataka State Hockey Association (KSHA) concluded on 26th August. Eighteen boys' teams are competing in the tournament which kicked off on 22nd August. The first ever edition of 6 Red Snooker Men’s State Ranking kicked on 25th August, at Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA) hall near Vasanthnagar. The Women State Ranking will be played from 27 to 30 August 2011. The games are being played under new International Billiards & Snooker Federation(IBSF)/ Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) rules. A total of 97 entries were received and matches will be played on a knockout basis to identify top 16, who will then form four leagues to compete for quarter finals. When I knew that Ranga Shankara was premiering a play under their AHA! banner, which promotes theatre for children, I was very keen to attend the first show, and I did so, on the 11th of August, 2011. AHA! is Ranga Shankara's Theatre for Children programme in association with Britannia Industries Ltd., "Dhaam Dhoom Suntaragaali", in Kannada, is a play based on Shakespeare's The Tempest, adapted by T Vaidehi. Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA) announced the first '6 Reds Snooker Karnataka State Ranking Tournament 2011', for men and women. 6-red, also known as six-red, is a shorter format of snooker which is played with six red balls instead of the standard fifteen. David Ramanath, former Karnataka State hockey player who also played for Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Bangalore, passed away in Illinios, Chicago, USA on 7th August after protracted illness for some months. He was with RBI for 15 years and there after migrated to USA. Karnataka State Hockey Association offered their condolences for his passing away and noted in their press release, "He was a jovial person and endeared himself to one and all."
