National School of Drama, Bengaluru Centre invites applications for admission to its residential One year Certificate Course in Acting. The Course will begin from 25 th July, 2018. Anybody throughout the country (India) can apply but preference would be given to candidate from Southern States of India (Karnataka, Andhra pradesh , Telengana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Union Territories of Pondicherry and Lakshadweep.
Total seats: 20(Twenty)
Medium of instructions: English. The language of instruction shall be English. The language of performance will be multilingual (South Indian Dravidian Languages). The language of writing the examination shall be English or any one from the Southern region.
Essential Qualifications:
1. The minimum qualification is graduation or equivalent degree in any discipline from a recognized University. It is relaxable in the case of extraordinarily talented candidates from the tribal, folk and traditional performing art families.
2. Sufficient knowledge of theatre with participation in at-least 4(four) productions.
Age limit is minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as on 1 st June, 2018.
The application form can be downloaded from the School website www.nsd.gov.in from 27 th June, 2018 onwards. Application form and Prospectus form are also available at National School of Drama, Bengaluru Centre, Kalagrama, Mallathalli (Behind Bangalore University), Bangalore-56. Between 10 am to 1.00 pm.
How to apply: Attested copies of certificates and testimonials must be attached with the application form along with a demand draft of Rs.150/- in favour of NSD, Bengaluru Chapter.
Completed forms must be sent by post or by hand to the Camp Director, NSD, Bengaluru Centre, Kalagrama, Mallathalli (Behind Bangalore University), Bangalore-56.
The last date for submitting applications is 10th July, 2018. No application will be entertained after this date.
Selection procedure:
The Selection is the two Phase process. The Candidate should appear for a preliminary examination and if selected than has to appear for a final examination workshop.
Preliminary test / audition: Bengaluru 17 th and 18 th July 2018
Final workshop: 25th, 26th and 27th of July 2018
An expert committee constituted by National School of Drama, New Delhi will assess the aptitude and talent of the candidates. The committee’s decision will be final. Any canvassing in this regard will be treated as ground for disqualification.
Scholarship: Finally selected candidates for the course will be given a scholarship of Rs.4500/- per month for the academic year.
Physical fitness: All selected students will have to undergo a medical test for physical fitness. Their final selection is subject to clearance of the fitness test.
