Raining films in Bengaluru

The mild showers are bringing in some films too, this season. Two film festivals with over 30 films wait for film lovers.

Bengaluru is all set to host its first edition of Film Harvest 2012 starting from March 16, 2012 to March 20, 2012. UB City, The Collection in association with Sublime Galleria presents "Film Harvest 2012" with an aspiration to create an international platform for filmmakers from across the world.

Uzma Irfan, Director of Prestige Group, who also serves as the Festival Chairperson, has conceptualised the festival. The film festival will showcase a variety of films ranging from short film to documentaries & full-length features, all made on the theme of Social Responsibility. The film festival will begin with a musical concert – "Cinema Classics" by Revolution Studios and will be followed by the screening of Academy Award nominated film "Tree of Life" directed by Terrence Malick.

A total of 11 films will be showcased in this film festival, which is organised by people from the fields of Art & Cinema, which include legendary Kannada movie director of international repute Padmashree Girish Kasaravalli as Festival Director, Music Director Ricky Kej as Festival Curator & Mr. Srinivasa Santhanam as Festival Advisor & Programmer.
The registration fee is Rs. 700.

The European Union Film Festival 2012 – Europe in Love

The 17th edition of EU film festival 2012 brings Europe in Love, films from across 25 European countries. The film screening will take place in many cities across India including Bangalore. Starting from March 16 to March 22, the film festival will showcase 25 films this year.

This festival is organised by the Embassies of EU member states in collaboration with Alliance Francaise, British Council, Goethe Institute / Max Mueller Bhavan, Federation of Film Societies of India, Suchitra Film Society and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, Indo-Cine Appreciation Foundation, Cine Central Calcutta, Entertainment Society of Goa, etc.

This edition is themed on "Europe in Love" and narrates engaging stories about Europe. The festival offers the viewers a heady cocktail of cultural diversity that Europe is known for. This year’s selection of films, 12 of which have been awarded domestically and/or internationally, is bound together by one central thread, telling different stories about Europe and its countries, languages and histories.

The entry is free on first come, first served basis. The screenings are at Priyadarshini Auditorium, Badami House, Corporation Circle, Bangalore International Centre and Suchitra Auditorium, Banashankari II Stage.
