MLA, residents interact in Jayanagar

Jayanagar MLA Vijaya Kumar kept his election promise of meeting citizens regularly, in an interactive meeting organised by the Jayanagar 5th block RWA.

Jayanagar 5th Block is one of the oldest and planned locality in Jayanagar. The birth place of Infosys was at 5th Block. Many eminent personalities who lived/living include- Sri Narayana Murthy, Sri Sri Ravishankarji, noted poets Pu thi Narasimachar, Gopalakrishna Adiga, Shashi Deshpande, noted film personality Vishnuvardhan and noted physicist Padmasri Dr Ramanath Cowsik.

The Resident Welfare Association is a 27 year old registered association and has been carrying out many developmental activites.

As a part of the citizen charter (see Candidates converse with voters, the association had organised an interaction meeting with Jayanagar MLA, B N Vijay Kumar and officials of all the utility departments connected to Jayanagar 5th block at his newly opened office, on August 13th. C K Rama Murthy and B Somashekar, former Corporators of the ward 58, also attended the interaction.

Some of the major decisions taken were – installation of 66 kva transformer for Jayanagar, laying of new water supply pipe lines in the area, water harvesting to be made compulsory in new buildings, identification of empty sites where debris/garbage are dumped and issue notices to the owners for maintanance,to hold awareness meet on power and water conservation, construction of urinals at prominent parks which are used for walking.

Vijay Kumar, complimented the association for its proactive role and said that he is available to citizens all the time and requested the association to use the facilities of his office for the welfare activities of the citizens. He also announced that the foundation stone for the proposed BWSSB water narvesting/theme park at 5th block would be held by September first week.

Vijay Kumar mentioned a follow up meeting will be held in coming months and said that he would be meeting other resident welfare associations, cultural groups, sports clubs, senior citizens of Jayanagar constituency to understand their problems.

G M Agadi, President of the association welcomed the gathering and Bhaskar, Secretary proposed a vote of thanks.
