BWSSSB’s incomplete pipeline project is causing immense suffering to the residents of JP Nagar 8th & 9th Phase, Bengaluru.
After digging up and blocking the main road connecting Kanakpura Road and Bannerghatta Road , work has stopped on this BWSSB project, which started over 4 months ago.
K N Rajiv, Assistant Executive Engineer, BWSSB, told Citizen Matters over the phone that pipeline work has been completed and the pipes are being tested for any leakage. "The project will be completed in a month," he said. When asked about the open trenches and lack of safety, he said he was unaware of this and would put barricades around the trenches immediately. Rajiv added that the pipeline work is a part of connecting T G Halli reservoir to Jambu Savari Dinne reservoir. The current stretch of the pipeline work is being carried on off Amruth Nagar Main Road, Konanakunte towards Jambusavari Dinne, 8th Phase J P Nagar. YM
Construction equipment was moved away from the site many weeks ago leaving the work incomplete, and the road now bears a deserted look, there is no sign of any activity happening at the site.
This project has resulted blocking the only entry and exit paths for the residents. It has become a daily struggle to reach the nearest tarred road. The bus service that was running in the area has since been diverted and no auto ply on the route either.
Mountains of mud have been left piled on the roadside causing breathing and dust related allergies to the residents. It is hard to open doors or windows of homes in what once used to be a clean and picturesque locality. No alternate internal roads or signage has been made for vehicles coming to these areas.
Visitors and guests coming over for the first time have to be escorted to ensure their safety, particularly evenings, as a wrong turn in the dark could lead to potentially disastrous consequences.
Residents are forced to risk their life and limb to go about their daily lives. Open trenches almost 10-20ft deep with exposed metal pipelines have been left unattended for weeks now. This is a tragedy waiting to happen.

BWSSB has dug up road from Konanakunte to Gottigere. This work was started in Dec 2010. Even after 6 months it is not completed. This road is heavily used by people in south/west bangalore towards Hosur/electronics city. People started using alternate road from Anjanapura/Kembaththalli to Gottigere. This road is very narrow as it passes through Anjanapura/Kembaththalii villages.
I request to direct BWSSB to speed up thier work & ensure Konanakunte to Gottigere road is available for general public.
