This is one question that arises in the mind of commuters travelling from BTM Layout via Maruti Nagar to Koramangala. For the last six months, BWSSB had made a mess of Thaverekere 1st Main Road. Now the vehicles coming from Forum to BTM Udupi garden are diverted via Maruti nagar. Due to this, traffic have increased during peak hours. Now commuters have to choose an alternate road to save time and avoid traffic in Maruti Nagar road.
Recently Maruti Nagar Road had a traffic jam; adding more trouble to commuters were some private property owners who have left construction materials such as sand, metal and cement mixing machine on the road. For enabling smooth work in their property, they have blocked the roads using stone or bricks. Sometimes you can see whole sections of the road occupied by workers and a lorry unloading sand or metal.
Now whichever alternate road you choose to reach Koramangala, you will have to take diversion. In short, for commuters commuting from BTM 16th main or Thaverekere, only road to reach Koramangala is Maruti Nagar road or BTM 100 ft road which are packed with HTV or cabs during peak hours.
As a daily commuter and a citizen, the only question I ask is that whether this is a road or construction site? I ask these private property owners: who gave you permission to block the road? What arrangement have you provide for those commuters or residents who have no alternatives.
One of the property owner who blocked entire road, when asked about blocking entire road and not even allowing a two-wheeler to commute. He respond by arguing, ‘Where should we keep this materials? Why are you using this road when you have a main road?’
For your information, even bangalore traffic police says "Use alternate roads and save your time".
