Under its Wake the Lake campaign, United Way of Bengaluru (UWBe) works on a number of lakes in Bangalore, involving key stakeholders such as BBMP, LDA, BDA, residents of the area, corporate volunteers and corporate funding, to revive and maintain these lakes.
To boost the Wake the Lake campaign, UWBe, along with the Uttarahalli Magekere Walkers’ Association is conducting a community event “Little Lake Keepers”.
Place: Uttarahalli Lake (see map above)
Date: Sunday, February 9, 2014
Time: 9am-12noon.
The morning will include:
– Painting competition for children of various ages
– Quiz for children
– Bouncees for little children
– Creation of a silhouette of Uttarahalli Lake on canvas – the artist will be from our partner NGO, Samarthanam; the audience will color and sign their names onto the canvas.
The presence of children and their parents at this event will go a long way in lending support to the efforts to raise the level of awareness about the importance and state of Bangalore’s lakes. It is hoped that this will also mobilise more citizens and communities to impact change.
