On Ganesha uthsava eve a few weeks back, the Raghu Dixit Project enthralled audience with their catchy tunes at JP Nagar’s Oxford School grounds in one of their most memorable performances.
The star studded audience included the iconic actor Ambharish as well as ex-chief minister of Karnataka, H D Kumaraswamy who walked in late but was met with a warm response from JP Nagar residents present.
Rave music hits such as Nina Pujege bhande from the movie Psycho and scores such as Hey Bhagwan, Kidki, Mysore se aaya, I’m in Mumbai waiting for a miracle had listeners up on their feet and most of them up on their chairs when the scintillating tunes were played. The performance also had a liberal dose of the unique Raghu Dixit humour that always brings out the best in the audience.
The bonding between the performers and audience was one of a kind. The band made the audience a part of their performance by asking them to sing along and the fans obliged their favourite singer’s wishes. The band on its part obliged to requests for songs from Psycho.
The truly touching moment of the event was when Raghu Dixit recalled how during his school days he would get excited about catching a glimpse of Ambarish as the latter entered the Mysore Tennis Club which was opposite Dixit’s house. Raghu Dixit also mentioned that he felt honoured to have someone whom he has always admired among the audience enjoying his music. The actor later congratulated the singer for being one of Karnataka’s truly unique musicians.
The Yaksha Gana performers danced along with Raghu Dixit to his tunes which was a delight to one’s eyes and ears. The atmosphere was resonant with appreciation from young and old.
To sum up the delightful evening the Oxford Institution’s students said that they enjoyed the evening listening to their favourite songs and getting to see what a delightful group Raghu Dixit Project is.
“They indeed had us dancing to their tunes”, said Kavita Gowda, one of the students of Oxford Institution. ⊕
